EXPOSIBRAM AMAZONIA and I MINING CONGRESS OF NOVEMBER 10 – 13, 2009

With the mining sector’s expansion in Brazil and particularly of the Amazon as a backdrop, the Brazilian Mining Institute – IBRAM will hold the International Mining Exposition of Amazonia – EXPOSIBRAM AMAZONIA at the Hangar Convention and Trade Fair Center of Amazonia, in Belém (Pará) from November 10-13. Parallel to this event will be held the I Mining Congress of Amazonia. The events combined should receive 15,000 visitors.

EXPOSIBRAM 2009 is an opportunity to present experiences of the mining sector in Brazil and other countries in new projects, as well as to discuss the mining industry’s role in the growth and sustainability of the activity in Brazil. It is also a time for presenting technological advances in equipment and services in an environment favorable to stimulating business at an international level. Eighty five mining companies form different states throughout Brazil and other countries will be participating.

The I Mining Congress of Amazonia will provide opportunities for discussion and also to present new advances in the sector. The target public of the event includes mining businesses, suppliers in the sector, technicians, students – including from related sectors, as well as public and private managers from Brazil and abroad. A number of professionals have already registered to participate in the event, in addition to students, graduate and post-graduate level academics and key speakers.

The importance of the I Mining Congress of Amazonia is based on the outlook for the activity as strategic for this vast region, as it offers the potential to provide local and regional development, especially due to its capacity to link to other productive chains, as well as due to its commitment to sustainability of its operations, rendering it compatible with any development model chosen for Amazonia.
